The Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Chen Chen recently visited three Han Chiang institutions, namely, Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC), Han Chiang Secondary School and Han Chiang Primary School.
Chen Chen, who took up the role since the beginning of the year, visited the institutions to discuss and exchange ideas with Han Chiang’s Board of Directors as well as teaching staff and students from China on Chinese education in Malaysia.
Although it was his first time visiting Penang, Chen Chen said he was impressed with Chinese education in Penang.
“People here (Chinese) are working hard to promote and support Chinese education,” he said.
Chen Chen also promised to handle all the suggestions made by the Board of Directors and provide better services for Chinese education.
“I hope the Chinese consulates will provide more services in improving Chinese education.
“The embassy will also give priority to all Han Chiang institutions in providing relevant assistance,” he said.
Among those present at the meeting were representatives from China’s consulate-general’s office in Penang, members from the Han Chiang Board of Directors namely, Honorary Advisor Dato’ Seri Ng Tee Soo, Advisor Tan Sri Dato’ Seri H’ng Bok San JP, Chairman Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing, Vice Chairman Dato’ Thong Chean Wah, Vice Chairman Dato’ Seri Hong Yeam Wah, Honorary Secretary Datuk Tan Hiang Joo and HCUC Vice Chancellor Dr Beh Kok Hooi.
