Han Chiang University College of Communication’s (HCUC) final year Broadcasting students unveiled their projects comprising short films and TV commercials at the Final Year Premiere 2018 CTRL+S, which was held at the Penang Performing Arts Centre, recently.
The screening featured five short films and TV commercials produced by five production teams, namely, Meteor Pictures, Wonder4 Production, DNA Production, Astrid Production and Load Complete.
Organising Chairperson Yeoh Shin Yee said that although the teams had only four months to prepare for the projects, they are happy to be able to showcase their short films and TV commercials to the public.
“There are many parts, indeed, that need to be improved, but we are glad that we could finish off this project in such a short period of time,” she said adding that the CTRL+S screening is the platform for the final year students to unleash their talents and develop a deeper appreciation of films.
CTRL+S was chosen as the theme for the screening because it signifies a combination of advanced technology and imperfection.
CTRL+S is a shortcut key that refers to ‘save’ and CTRL represents the four broadcasting elements which are cinematography, timing, render and lighting.
As for the imperfection, it indicates the need for students to be confident in delivering their ideas and messages.
Meanwhile, Meteor Pictures emerged triumphant during the event when the team grabbed two awards, namely, Best Short Film and Best TV Commercial.
All the tickets for the screening were sold out and the proceeds of the event would be used to purchase filming equipment, which would be donated to HCUC.
