More than 90 students from Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) participated in the Glo-Walk 2018 as event crew.
Apart from being crew members, some students also designed and produced backdrops for the event.
The students comprised 47 from the School of Communication and Media as well as 48 from the School of Applied Creative Arts and Design.
School of Communication and Media lecturer Eric Shaun Seaton said he was glad to see students’ involvement in the fun-theme event as he believed it would give them a good exposure for the students especially in managing a large-scale event.
“All of them are delighted to participate in the Glo-Walk because it is a big-scale event.
“Besides gaining hands-on experience in event management, they feel that they are also contributing to society, particularly since this is a fundraising event,” he said.
Glo-Walk 2018 was held to raise funds for Tech Dome Penang, a project by Penang Tech Centre Berhad to enhance the fields of science, engineering and technology.
School of Applied Creative Arts and Design lecturer Lim Thong Soon said besides giving exposure to his students, the event was a good platform to enhance their artistic skills that would be useful for their future career in the creative multimedia.
“Students’ participation in this kind of event is good for their portfolios, which will benefit them once they have graduated and entered the industry,” he said adding that the students also organised a face-painting session during the event.
