Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) vice chancellor Dr Beh Kok Hooi applauded the involvement of Student Ambassadors in HCUC events, which he believed would not only add more knowledge to them, but impart many new skills too.
“The establishment of Student Ambassadors shows that HCUC is committed to furnish students with new knowledge and inculcate necessary skills such as event management, that will be good for their future,” he said.
Dr Beh also added that he plans to have a dialogue once every three months with student representatives from all HCUC societies, which would need assistance from the Student Ambassadors to coordinate the sessions.
“The dialogue will be a good platform to listen to the students’ concerns as well as for the Management to have fruitful discussions with them for the betterment of the university college,” he said.
Student Ambassadors’ lecturer advisor Jayslyn Saw said the Student Ambassador Programme has seen many students honing their leadership and other vital skills such as time management, event management, team work and communication.
“We hope this programme has helped them grow into someone who is more capable, productive, confident and above all else, a better human being.
“Even when they leave the university college, whether starting their career or furthering their studies, I believe they can go through the obstacles as they have been equipped with the necessary skills and positive attitude,” she said during the Student Ambassador Appreciation and Farewell Ceremony, yesterday.
The event was held to bid farewell to the final semester’s Student Ambassadors as well as announce the new committee list.
Also present were HCUC deputy vice chancellor Jenny Khoo and School of Communication and Media acting dean Dr Jane Teh.
Meanwhile, Student Ambassador president and Diploma in Mass Communication final semester student Alice Ang Zi Qi said she was grateful with the opportunity given to her to be part of the team.
“HCUC community is like a one big family for me and I am glad throughout my three years of journey here (in HCUC), I received much support and guidance from my lecturers and friends especially whenever I face difficulties with my studies.
“I am also happy to be able to organise many interesting activities with the other team members,” she said.
