GEORGETOWN: In association with J.C. Jacobsen Foundation, Lions Club of Bayan Baru Penang, Malaysia presented a cheque of RM30,000 to Penang Han Chiang Associated Chinese Schools Association in an event at Han Chiang University College of Communication conference room today.
President of Lions Club of Bayan Baru, Tan Yean Peng presented the mock cheque to Assistant Honorary Secretary of the Board of Directors, Dato Lim Kooi Ting.
Executive Director of J.C. Jacobsen Foundation, Pearl Lai said that the foundation reached out to provide their aid after reading about the floods that happened recently.
“We were stunned when we found out about the tragedy that struck Penang island so we would like to offer our monetary assistance through the foundation,” she added.
Pearl also hoped that the small contribution offered to the institutions could encourage other foundations to do the same and offer their cooperation.
Also present were representatives of the Board of Directors, Datuk Tan Hiang Joo, Mr Ooi Hooi Hiong, District Governor of Lions Club of Bayan Baru, Douglas Oh and principals of Han Chiang Primary School and Han Chiang High School, Lee Feng Choo and Kung Bee Lee respectively.
