Han Chiang College’s communication students successfully organised an environmental campaign towards a more sustainable future, gaining an exhaustive list of press coverage.
Journalists from various media organisations like The Malaysian Insider, Guang Ming Daily, Sin Chew, The Star and Buletin Mutiara attended the event’s opening ceremony, which was officiated by Paya Terubong assemblyman Yeoh Soon Hin, who also shared pictures on his Facebook.
Lecturer adviser Yogashalini Veeriah said that the event, themed Nurture Nature, was timely, especially since Penang is in danger of losing more of its greenery due to rapid development, and that this project would help educate Penangites adopt a more sustainable living environment.
“I am pleased that we received such a huge coverage and this shows that the students are not only good at putting together an event, but are well-rounded PR practitioners who can write up effective press releases and build strong relationships with the media,” Yogashalini said, adding that this was the first time the students had organised a public event.
