Jit Sin students get hands-on broadcasting experience at HCUC

Forty Form 3 students from SMJK Jit Sin 11 were given a head start about media production when they visited Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) during a visit.

Led by two teachers, the students got a chance to try out the facilities and broadcasting equipment in the Han Chiang TV (HCTV) studio and Creative Media Centre. They were coached and guided by HCUC lecturers, staff and students.

At the HCTV studio, student Amber Lee expressed her excitement after being given the chance to “test herself”as a newscaster.

“I find it very interesting despite being nervous at that time. Also, the facilities provided by HCUC are very complete.“

Lee said she hoped to become a DJ one day because she liked to communicate with friends. “The job seems to be interesting.”

“Although I may want to study medical science in the future, this visit really opened up my views on many things. Before, I have not seen the ‘behind the scene’ things at a Radio studio or a TV studio, but today I get to touch it, use it and even experience it. That’s wonderful.’’

Student Ho Yi Lin tried her hand at the TV studio’s control room, with the help of a HCUC staff, and she enjoyed the experience.

She hoped to become a DJ one day.

Counselling teacher Ms Tam Wei Mun said she appreciated the goodwill of HCUC to provide such an informative and sharing experiences for her students.
