PENANG: Final-year Diploma in Mass Communication (Public Relations and Advertising) students at Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) recently wrapped up their two-month “My Body My Rights” social media campaign, accompanied by various interactive activities on campus.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness about sexual harassment and personal rights, educate students on the different types of harassment, promote prevention and available support resources, and encourage respect and empowerment to speak up and support one another.
Organising chairperson Chua Chun Sean said the campaign was organised to highlight the importance of recognising sexual harassment, understanding personal rights, and respecting boundaries both online and offline.
“Many students may not fully realise what counts as sexual harassment, especially when it happens in ways that are not so obvious.
“We want this campaign to help students recognise unsafe situations, understand their body rights, and feel confident to speak up or seek help, while reminding everyone to respect boundaries and support a safer campus,” he said.

The campaign was centred on social media outreach and supported by a series of mini physical activities to engage HCUC students.
Alongside its online efforts, the campaign also featured on-ground interactive activities such as the Body Rights Oath Tree, a mannequin display, an Emoji Expression Wall and a lucky draw. These activities were designed to enhance students’ understanding of personal boundaries, consent and sexual harassment awareness.
